Barbie’s Release Date
While Warner Bros. has confirmed that Barbie will be released in theatres on July 21, 2023, the studio has also unveiled the first image of Margot Robbie in her role as Mattel’s iconic doll.
The live-action adaptation of the famed toy will be released in theatres next year, according to reliable sources. In the first look photo, Robbie’s Barbie is seen driving around in a pink convertible with a big smile on her face. Will Ferrell, who is rumoured to play the CEO of a toy company, and Ryan Gosling are both set to star in the film.
Greta Gerwig teams up with Noah Baumbach, the director and co-writer of Marriage Story, who previously directed Lady Bird and Little Woman. Robbie previously stated in an interview with British Vogue that a project like this would be a perfect match. “It comes with a lot of baggage!” There are a lot of emotional ties as well.”
Cast of the Barbie Movie
Since 2014, “Barbie” has been in the works, with Amy Schumer formerly attached to play the lead.
Will Ferrell, America Ferrera, Simu Liu, Kate McKinnon, Issa Rae, Michael Cera, Harsh Nef, Kingsley Ben-Adir, and Emerald Fennell all appear in supporting roles.
Robbie is also a producer on the picture, working with co-producer Tom Ackerley through their production company, LuckyChap Entertainment. Mattel Films’ Robbie Brenner and “Harry Potter” director David Heyman have agreed to work together on the project.
CinemaCon featured a new “Lord of the Rings” film and a sneak peek at “The Meg 2,” as well as a sequel announcement for “The Color Purple.”
First Look at Barbie
Through LuckyChap alongside Robbie, Ackerley, Mattel’s Brenner, and Heyday Film’s David Heyman produce “Barbie.” Executive producers include LuckyChap’s Josey McNamara and Mattel’s Ynon Kreiz.
Adopting the prized toy “comes with a lot of baggage… and many emotional attachments,” Robbie stated in a 2021 interview. It does, however, offer a number of novel approaches to coping with the dilemma. Everyone has heard of “Barbie” and immediately thinks to themselves, “I know what that movie is going to be,” but when they realise that Greta Gerwig is writing and directing it, they say to themselves, “Oh, maybe I don’t know.” After all, who knows what kind of film that will be?”
Production began in London earlier this year. Several Mattel properties are being considered for film adaptation, including “Barbie.” A variety of projects are in the works, including projects based on the Magic 8 Ball, Hot Wheels, “Masters of the Universe,” Polly Pocket, Rock ’em Sock ’em Robots, and vintage dolls Chatty Cathy and Betsy Wetsy.
Barbie and Ken are a couple.
Barbie is now a live-action series, thanks to the casting gods. Barbie is played by Margot Robbie, and Ken, Barbie’s renowned love interest, is played by Ryan Gosling. Assume the Barbie verse is foreshadowed by Robbie’s “Wolf of Wall Street” suit. We already know Robbie can pull off an all-pink wardrobe in the claimed story of Barbie abandoning her doll fantasy world only to be confronted by reality.
Her company LuckyChap Entertainment also produced Harley Quinn’s Birds of Prey and the critically acclaimed #MeToo revenge comedy-drama “Promising Young Woman.” Robbie made her producing debut with “I, Tonya,” and since has worked on Hulu’s “Dollface” and Netflix’s “Maid.”
Plot of the Barbie Film
There isn’t much information available about the live-action Barbie film, but it seems that the creative team behind it aims to make something out of the ordinary for a film based on a line of dolls. Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach, best known for independent films such as Lady Bird and Marriage Plot, are an unusual pairing to bring into the fold. It adds to the intrigue of potential tale ideas.
